Refineries

The primary prupose for Athanors and Tataras is to Reprocess Material, Decompress Gas, and for Reactions. You can install Manufacturing Rigs, and there are cases where it makes sense, but generally you want to stick to Reprocessing and Reaction Rigs.

Note

Both structures can also have a Moon Drill installed.

In the following topics, the structures are explored in more detail.

Athanor

  • Structure size: M
  • Rigs: Rigs are split between Material Efficiency (ME) and Time Efficiency (TE)
  • Built Limits: Cannot built Capital Ships, or Super Capitals
  • Docking Limits: Capitals cannot dock. Freighters, Jump Freighters, and Orcas, can dock, as they aren't counted as Capital Ships.
  • Bonuses:
    • 4% bonus to gas decompression efficiency

Athanors are the Raitaru equivilant. They are only M-Sized Structures and only have a single Reinforcement cycle before they can be destroyed. Their Rigs are also split between Material and Time Efficiency.

The only interesting Bonus for an Athanor is the 4% Gas Decompression bonus. This will bring you to a max of 89% efficiency. The Gas Decompression cannot be improved with Rigs.

Tatara

  • Structure size: L
  • Rigs: Rigs are combined into Material Efficiency and Time Efficiency
  • Built Limits: Cannot built Super Capitals
  • Docking Limits: Capitals cannot dock. Freighters, Jump Freighters, and Orcas, can dock, as they aren't counted as Capital Ships. Rorquals are also special in this case, and can also dock.
  • Bonuses:
    • 10% bonus to gas decompression efficiency
    • 25% reduction in time requirements for reaction jobs

Tataras are the equivilant to Azbels. They have two Reinforcement cycles and their Rigs are also combined into Materail and Time Efficiency.

Like the Athanor, the Tatara also has a Gas Decompression bonus, this time from 10%, which will bring you to 95% decompression rate with max skils. There are no Rigs to improve the Gas Decompression efficiency.

Another interesting bonus of the Tatara, is the time bonus towards Reaction jobs. Having a bonus of 25% is quite nice.

TODO: weak argument I generally recommend using a Tatara for Reactions and Reprocessing, and not use multiple Athanors. While I got myself warm with multiple Raitarus, I can't get warm with multiple Reaction Athanors. As with the Engineering Structures, the Refineries also have the same bonuses no matter the structure. Multiple T2 Rigged Athanors are better than a T1 Rigged Tatara, but investing in a T2 Tatara also makes sense, as it ends up being very convinient.
